Voter registration deadline for Primary Election

Bergen County Superintendent of Elections Patricia DiCostanzo issued a notice that Tuesday, June 16, 2020, is the last day for residents to register to vote for the July 7, 2020, Primary Election in the State of New Jersey. In order to be eligible to vote, a person must be an American Citizen, be 18 years old on or before July 7, 2020, and be a resident of New Jersey and Bergen County by June 16, 2020.

Bergen County residents may register to vote at the Office of the Superintendent of Elections, located at One Bergen County Plaza, Room 380, in Hackensack.  In order to meet the needs of residents, this office will be open from 9:00AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.  People may also register at their local municipal clerk’s office, hours vary.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic and Executive Order No. 144, ALL DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN REGISTERED VOTERS WILL AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE A VOTE-BY-MAIL BALLOT for the July 7, 2020 Primary Election. If an Unaffiliated or Inactive Status Voter would like to participate in the Primary they should complete and return the Vote-by-Mail Application that will be sent to them.

If you have a disability and need an accessible ballot, please contact (201) 336-7020 or you may go to your assigned polling place, which will provide access to an in-person accessible voting device on Primary Election Day. Should you choose not to vote on a Mail-In Ballot and show up to one of the limited number of Polling Places on Election Day, only Provisional Paper Ballots will be available to cast your vote. The ADA compliant Voting Machine is only for voters who have a disability.

Superintendent DiCostanzo would like voters, already registered in Bergen County, to be aware of the procedures regarding late address changes within county.  If a voter has moved from one election district to another in the SAME town or has moved to another town in Bergen before Tuesday, July 7, 2020, please notify this office as soon as possible so that a Mail-In Ballot or an application can be sent to you.  If you have any questions, please call 201-336-6110 for assistance.

The Bergen County Superintendent of Elections’ office is responsible for Voter Registration and all associated concerns, Issuing Voter Acknowledgement Cards, Maintaining Custody of Voting Machines and Poll Books, as well as other duties relating to the enforcement of elections laws as per NJSA Title 19.

On Tuesday, July 7th, voters will cast ballots for their party candidates for President of the United States, US Senate, Congress, Freeholders, and local candidates. It is up to each and every American Citizen to exercise their right to vote.

Cancellation of previously-scheduled May events

Dear Elmwood Park Residents,

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the Borough of Elmwood Park has made the decision to cancel the upcoming Town Wide Garage Sale and Rabies Clinic scheduled in May. Once we have rescheduled said events, we will notify the residents via our Borough website and Facebook page.

Extension of deadline for payment of 2nd quarter taxes

Good morning Elmwood Park Residents,

In accordance with Executive Order #130 issued on April 28, 2020 by Governor Murphy, the deadline for the payment of 2nd quarter taxes has been extended to June 1, 2020.

Borough Hall is still closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, all offices are staffed and operational. If you need assistance from any of our Borough offices, please call our main number at 201-796-1457 and listen for the prompts to select the extension that you need.

Additionally, your 2nd quarter tax payments can be mailed in or dropped off at the main entrance (rear of the building) to Borough Hall.  We have attached a secure mailbox to the exterior of the building located next to the main entrance.

We have also installed a phone in the vestibule at the main entrance with a list of extensions for your convenience, should you need additional assistance.
