Employment Opportunity: Crossing Guards

The Borough of Elmwood Park is looking to hire 2 part time Crossing Guards. The pay rate is $16.60 per hour. This position is responsible for escorting children when crossing the street in designated school crossing zones. Applicants must be able to pass a comprehensive background check which includes fingerprinting. The hours applicants would need to be available for work is 8:00am-9am, and 3:00pm-4pm, Monday through Friday. Starting pay is pay is $15.00 per hour. Successful candidates must be pleasant with children and willing to ensure their safety in and around school crossing zones. Must understand the need for timeliness and must be able to maintain self-control under stressful situations without exhibiting negative behaviors. 222 New Trees 2022

222 New Trees 2022 is a program that seeks to partner up the governments (county, municipal, and school), private businesses, and homeowners to plant 222 new trees in Elmwood Park by the year 2022. Not only do trees lower emissions from homes and cars through shade cover, but they also add priceless value to the beauty of our community. Part of the launch of this program will be revising the Borough code's trees laws. Ultimately, we will assist residents with planting trees on their properties.

Administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with best practice standards in five basic areas: the administrative function, the personnel function, the operations function, the investigative function, and the arrestee/detainee function.
