Residents may have received a mailing titled AVAILABILITY OF PUBLIC NOTICE, issued on April 26, 2021, from the US Army Corps of Engineers. This notice is triggered by activities contemplated by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTPA). More specifically, the NJTPA is proposing a widening of the roadway that will impact waters of the state and wetlands where the roadway crosses the Passaic River.
The widening project will disturb 1,480 sf of wetlands and 53 sf of open waters. The full Public Notice is available via the internet link provided on the notice and describes the project, solicits comments, and indicates that a public hearing may be requested by any interested party and that the request will be considered. A big thank you to ASEZ Student Volunteer Group for all their help with the cleanup. Forty volunteers were on hand to help with areas in town in need of some attention. These volunteers have been helping the Residents Assistance Program for the last three years. We appreciate their commitment to our Elmwood Park Community.

The Residents Assistance Program Committee along with borough officials recognized Mr. Larry Inserra Jr., CEO of Inserra ShopRites, and local resident Rachel Johnson, for their generosity to help those in need in our community.
The Elmwood Park Mayor and Council were proud to accept the Municipal Innovation Summit Award for our Residents Assistance Program.
