PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Elmwood Park will hold a public hearing on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 8 P.M. during the regularly scheduled Borough Council meeting. The purpose of the hearing is to obtain public comment on a grant application to be submitted by the Borough of Elmwood Park to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres Land Acquisition and Park Development Program. This application is for the development of the Elmwood Park Marina. The meeting will take place in Borough Hall, located at 182 Market Street, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407. Any interested party may appear at said hearing, in which a brief presentation will be made, and participate therein in accordance with the rules of the Borough of Elmwood Park Mayor and Council.

LABORER, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS – THE BOROUGH ELMWOOD PARK (Bergen County, NJ) is seeking a full-time laborer to work in the Department of Public Works. The work includes production of signs, line painting, leaf/brush collection, road work, grounds maintenance, buildings maintenance, public work projects, snow plowing, sewer and water operations and repairs, operation of heavy equipment, and general maintenance of the Borough. Must possess a NJ driver’s license, CDL B license preferred. Starting salary is $33,000 with excellent benefit package. Dear Elmwood Park Residents:

Please be advised that the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection as well as the Bergen County Health Department/Bergen County Hazmat is continuing to monitor the air quality in and around the scene of the fire as well as into the residential neighborhood adjacent to Marcal.

Additionally, Marcal has retained an environmental company to oversee the process from their side of things who will remain engaged and retained the throughout the entire process.

There are multiple layers of monitoring and oversite involved in this operation that will remain in place until the site is remediated.

To date, air quality readings in and around the area are normal. Monitoring is being conducted regularly and residents will be made aware immediately, if air quality readings become abnormal.

Dear Elmwood Park Residents:

Please be advised that since shortly after the fire began, the NJ Department of Environmental Protection in conjunction with the Bergen County Health Department were notified and sent representatives to the fire scene to conduct monitoring and testing for hazardous materials.

Air quality monitoring was and is currently being conducted around the site and in the surrounding residential neighborhood.

At no time have there been any readings above any level of concern regarding air quality.

We recommend that residents keep their windows closed as potential flare ups may cause smoke to migrate off-site towards the residential area.

Updates will be provided if needed or if the situation changes.

The Borough of Elmwood Park is in the process of adopting a new ordinance which mandates that any upholstered furniture, cushions, carpet, mattresses and the like, must be securely wrapped in plastic before setting them out for trash collection. The adoption of this ordinance is in response to a concern from our solid waste management contractor, who is requiring this process be implemented in order for them to continue to pick up these types of items. Dear Elmwood Park Residents:                                                                          December 6, 2018

On December 4^th and December 5^th, 2018 (2) elementary school students reported that a dark colored minivan with rear tinted windows (possibly a Chevrolet) pulled up to them as they were walking home from Gilbert Avenue School. Both incidents occurred at approximately 4:00 pm on Gilbert Avenue between Speidel Avenue and Elm Street.

The students observed 2 dark skinned males occupying the vehicle during both incidents. According to the victims, the suspects stated to them, “You’re beautiful, do you want me to drop you off.” In both instances the victims ran off and were not pursued by the suspects.

Although these incidents occurred on December 4^th and 5^th, they were reported to the police department on December 6, 2018 at which time an investigation was immediately started. The facts regarding these incidents were broadcast to surrounding jurisdictions to ascertain if any similar situations occurred in other municipalities.

The Elmwood Park Police Department has added extra patrols, both marked and unmarked, to the area, for the safety and security off all of our students.

NO Parking for Milling and Paving

Dear Elmwood Park Residents:                                                                          November 26, 2018

Please be advised that parking will be prohibited on the following streets from Tuesday, November 27^th through Friday, November 30^th for milling and paving:

-Franklin St from Mola Boulevard to Gall Ave.

-Orchard Street from Elm St to Speidel Ave.

-Lee St from Mola Boulevard to Elm St.

Signs were previously posted for work to commence on November 23^rd, but according to the contractor, weather and equipment issues caused for the work to be delayed.
