A Police Communications Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and transmitting pure and reliable messages, and recording other important information. They receive calls from individuals who need assistance from first responders. Once information is obtained from the caller, dispatchers activate the services necessary to respond to the nature of the call for help.This is to advise of a future vacancy for the above referenced position in the Elmwood Park Police Department. For the third year, the Mayor and Council will again be holding a collection drive for gift cards and toys for the holiday season.
The RAP will be accepting monetary and grocery gift card donations to assist those residents in need during the holiday season. Please make checks payable to the RAP. All donations can be mailed or brought to the RAP Coordinator, Angela Fava at the Business Administrators Office, 182 Market Street, Elmwood Park, NJ 07407. We will again work with schools and local houses of worship to assist families in need.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that due to the public health emergency in the State of New Jersey, as declared in Executive Order 103, the Borough will be altering its normal meeting procedures for its special Mayor and Council meeting on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 4PM and will conduct its public meeting by and through the means of electronic communications equipment as permitted by the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to follow best practices recommended by the United States Center for Disease Control, Borough Hall is closed to the general public and the public meeting will not be “in-person” and will be conducted electronically, solely by virtual means.

Members of the public will have the ability to provide public comments during this meeting. Said public comments shall be read aloud at the Mayor and Council meetings. Written public comments shall be read aloud by the Brough Clerk after all members of the public in attendance remotely/virtually who wish to provide public comment are accommodated. Written public comments shall be limited to three (3) minutes per person. Public comments shall be read from the beginning, until the time limit is reached. Multiple written public comments submitted by the same individual and/or entity shall be read in succession until the time limit is reached. The Mayor and/or the Presiding Officer may pass over duplicate written comments; however, each duplicate comment shall be noted for the record with the content summarized. If the Mayor and/or Presiding Officer elects to summarize duplicative comments, the Mayor and/or Presiding Officer must not summarize certain duplicative comments while reading other duplicative comments individually. The Borough is utilizing this format in an effort to mitigate the chance of exposure to COVID-19, as a part of the Borough’s ongoing effort to slow the rate of transmission and avoid overwhelming our treatment centers.

The Residents Assistance Program had their Fall/Leaf Cleanup on November 8th to help our residents in need. Over 60 volunteers were on hand to get the job done. A special thank you to all those who participated in this event.
