Dear Elmwood Park Community,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Shawn Warren and I have the great pleasure of announcing to you that I am honored to have been selected to serve this community as your new Director of Parks and Recreation.

I’m excited to serve the Elmwood Park Community as the Recreation Director! I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Sports Administration at Montclair University, after earning a Bachelor’s of Arts in Public and Non-Profit Administration Rutgers University. In my hometown of Englewood, I served as the Recreation Supervisor for 4 years, an EMT for 5 years, and a Youth Sports Coach (High School and middle school) for 9 years. My combined experiences have allowed me to prioritize the need for recreational activities in our local communities while building collaborative relationships with residents, city leaders, and of course, our youth.

I believe wholeheartedly that recreational services are one of the greatest investments to empower the residents of this community through extracurricular activities. As we embark upon this journey, prioritizing health and safety, I look to you for support as we begin to build on what is already a working system. With communication, dedication, and camaraderie, we will provide an outstanding service to the borough of Elmwood Park! A new generation is on the rise, let’s have faith in some of their actions.
